2008-2009 TV

With this upcoming fall season comes brand new episodes of our favorite television shows. The series that i'm most excited for are Prison Break, Dexter, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, My Name Is Earl, The Ultimate Fighter, Californication, Gary Unmaried, Down and Dirty with Jim Norton.

Prison Break has become a regular happenstance in my Monday viewing schedule for the last 3 years(going on 4). The tale of Michael Scofield and his brother overcoming the odd of "The Company", making random criminal friends along the way.

Season 4 of Prison Break brings us a storyline in which our main characters must now work with our federal government in hopes of finally bringing down the greedy, bloodthirsty, tyrants called "The Company" bringing in new characters and new character dynamics.

After the 3rd season I was getting worried that the title of the show "Prison Break" was becoming more irrelevant as each episode progressed. They broke out of Fox River, and then Sona, but now they're not even in a prison anymore. But, the way the director films it, still gives off the feeling that they are still incarcerated. I don't know how they do it, but, to me it still feels like a prison escape in the making.

This season however presents our main character Michael Scofield with an interesting problem, in which he is beeliding from the nose. Now wether this has anything to do with the death of his mother or has anything to do with him being locked in a closet when he was a kid, i'm not sure. But, is very exciting to see how this is going to play out.

I also like the way T-Bag is being used in this series. He no longer is just being used as a minor antaginist, he being used as a major antaginist(which he deserves to be.) I mean, T-Bag to me is the ultimate douche bag, fuck you over, villian. Not only does he act like a person you would like to hit over the head with a 2x4 but looks like a person you would like to hit over the head with a 2x4. T-Bag looks as though he were a pedophile rapist with psycho killer intentions(who wouldn't be scared of that?)

Prison Break, I, admit, is coming to an end in my mind(as i hope it seems the same to the creator,) so, i'm, hoping that they will conclude the story either within this season or maybe 2 seasons beyond this. I just cannot see this show lasting longer than another 2 seasons beyond this season. If they do continue on past this, they may need to alter the title of the show somewhat.

Dexter is in its 3rd season, 2 seasons past the original storyline from the book. Any time you take an original story and take it past its ultimate conclusion you leave yourself wide open for failure. This is where Dexter breaks the mold, the character Dexter proves that you can take him past the original series and put him into other situations.

Dexter, has managed to get himself out of trouble twice so far, the first time being with his brother and the second getting away from Dokes. In this new season Dexter accidentally kills someone outside of the code of Harry and his own intentions, this time he's killed someone he didn't even know, nor even know if he deserved it. And, it proves to be detrimental, the person he kills is the brother of a cop who has been a cop for a very long time and is friends with Dexter's boss.

What I've noticed about Dexter is that Dexter's girlfriend is becoming a super skank. The last two seasons she appeared to be pretty reserved from being sexually abused. But, this season get ready, because she has the sex drive of a professional porn star.

At first when I started watching Dexter, I, didn't know what to expect, I mean a serial killer good guy being the lead character of a major series, its a little much to take in at first. But, the series proved to work, very well in fact. I find myself rooting for the killer. Its sick, but, for some reason it just seems right. This show presents a moral conundrum.

Anyone who has seen the the Terminator Trilogy(looks to be gearing up to be a quadrilogy.) should be watching The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The show has lasted to a second series which is good for me, and a lot of people. For most people, watching this series was a leap of faith as the Terminator 3 movie proved to be a dissapointment to some people who though T2 was the ultimate ending to the series. Not what I think. Terminator 3 was an important installment to the series wether people like to admit that or not, it leads right into The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles should in my opinion be called the John Connor Chronicles as the story more reflects on his life rather than Sarah's. This story also introduces a cyborg named Cameron who was build with a defect of personality. Cameron the cyborg takes on the persona of a real human who is captured from the group of human still alive being led by John Connor and the resistance. Somewhere along the way, Cameron was captured and re-programed by the resistance and sent back to save John Connor. This second season Cameron is malfunctioning and could serve to be very detrimental to the Connor family.

If you hold a stigma against The Sarah Connor Chronicles throw it the fuck away. This series is too good to miss. So get to watching.... NOW!!!!

Season 3 of Heroes proves that the show can be more bad ass than it already was. Labeled "Villains" this newest season is proving to be the best yet. Sylar is more evil yet seems to be now working on the side of good with a side of still doing his own thing. Claire is revealed to have immortality which makes her seem that much more hot. Seriously I don't know one man out there who doesn't have at least a little crust on her.

Watching Heroes reminds me of reading old X-Men comics. Its exciting to see the same powers that are used by old heroes now being used by new heroes by different people with different lifestyles and in different situations. If you're not watching Heroes there is something very wrong with you.

My Name Is Earl is probably the most moral immoral show on television. Its the story of a total scumbag turned karma warrior. Earl is is your average every day trailer park trash turned good guy. Earl lives his life now through his list trying to make up for all his wrong doings in order to improve his own life. This new season he is back on the normal path much as he started. The past few seasons there were many things that thwarted Earls path and some things that could have even ended his progress completely. But, it seems that who ever is looking over us is looking out for Earl and wants him to continue crossing things off his life.

I think that its good that Earl is back on his normal path, and doing his life normally. There are over 200 bad deeds on his list, and he's barely scratched the surface.

If you need some inspiration for changing your own life My Name Is Earl may give you some hope. This show has had a great affect on my life, and I think this show makes me more aware of my actions and what they cause.

Now lets talk about beating skulls in with your bare foot. The Ultimate Fighter is a show presented by the UFC. It's a reality show with people beating the crap out of each other in order to win a UFC contract, which could mean a lof of money and respect for the winner.

This year the two teams are Team Nogueira and Team Mir. I'm not really familiar with either of the coaches but from what I've heard and seen on clips they're beasts. The Ultimate Fighter is the same setup every year, but, with a new set of fighters it makes everything exciting on a new level.

When I was a kid I was exposed to the UFC, and what I saw was more brutal than what it has become now, and for the better. The UFC is a fighting company where you can display your fighting ablity against others with the same ambition. There should be no reason for a person to enter the ring and lose their life during the process, or end their career for that matter. With Dana White set in place as the new owner there comes new rules and regulations that protect the fighters and also make the fighting more competative and skilled, giving us a better show.

This year there are 2 weight classes a heavyweight an light heavyweight class, so it seems there will be 2 winners this year rather than 1. Awesome.

Californication, which is about an akward sex addict, and in this second season it becomes even more akward as the main character gets back with his ex-wife and can't be so sexually active with every single hot girl he comes across anymore(sucks to be him.)

Californication never fails to make you horny. It almost feels like you're breaking some sort of law watching this show. I can see why David Duchuvney became a sex addict and had to go to rehab for it. Although, its not like hes the only chronic masterbator out there.

Gary Unmarried is a goddamned breath of fresh air. For the past 10 years i've been sick of what I have been seeing for sitcoms. Jay Morh proves that he is every bit as funny as he has ever been. Gary Unmarried is about a man who is recently divorved from his wife with which he had 2 kids with, a timid boy and a girl who could be a political leader one day. Recently Gary meets a girl whom also has a son of her own and wants a relationship with Gary. But is Gary prepared for such a permanent relationship so quick after his divorce?

Gary Unmarried looks to be like it could be an amazing series. I'm sure i'll be watching Gary Unmarried for years to come. Jay Mohr still rules.

Down and Dirty with Jim Norton is a stand-up comedy show hosted by none other than Lil' Jimmy Norton the lovable, hugable writer of the book "Happy Endings: The Tales of a Meaty Breasted Zilch". Jim Norton has been in comedy since the old days of comedy, working with many of the biggest names in comedy. Only recently has Jim Norton really jumped to fame, but, since he jumped he's never come back down. Down and Dirty with Jim Norton will be giving you such talents as Andrew Dice Clay, Artie Lange, Patrice O'neal, Bill Burr, Ari Shaffir, Jim Jeffries, and Kevin Shea just to name a few.

If you miss Down and Dirty with Jim Norton, you really must not be a fan of stand-up comedy, or you're an uptight bastard who gets offended to easily.
